The DKH Legacy Trust is a charity set up by Dame Kelly Holmes to 'create life chances for young people'.
Madejski Stadium hosted the charity's award ceremony with Dame Kelly in attendance. The inspirational event featured young men who had successfully completed the Get on Track programme. They spoke about the benefits of having professional mentors and how volunteering helped to build their confidence, giving them a purpose and improved self belief to achieve their dreams.
CultureMix's director Mary Genis's invitation came through her role as a member of the Reading 2012 Partnership Board. Chaired by Reading Post editor Andy Murrill the board represents various sectors of the community and will lead the way for Reading residents to get involved in celebrating the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
Reading has been selected as one of only 66 areas in the UK to host the Olympic Flame as it makes its 8,000 mile journey across the UK before arriving at the Olympic Stadium on 27 July, ready for the famous lighting of the cauldron at the Games opening ceremony.
The Olympic Torch will make its way through Reading on Tuesday 10th July 2012, cheered on by huge crowds expected to turn out and share in the Olympic spirit.
