RASPO @ The Hexagon - A Black History Month event

RASPO presents 'Pan on Fire' Wednesday 27 October 2010 7.30-10pm

Following RASPO Steel Orchestra's premier performance at Notting Hill Carnival's National Panorama Steelband Championship the award winning steel percussion orchestra presents a homecoming event to celebrate Black History Month and introduce young new talent to a live audience.

The Hexagon, the space provided for RASPO's championship rehearsals during August, will come alive with an evening of live calypso, reggae and soul in a packed programme of Reading's best musicians.

The show features guest artists, including Tanisha Walker on saxophone, and introduces brand new songwriting ensemble 'Exception' featuring talented vocalist Kisha Lowe guitarist Aynsley Lynam, and Darryl Taylor on keyboards.

The audience will get to meet local professional reggae musician and producer Don Chandler who recently launched the Reggae School for aspiring musicians aged 12 - 18 years. The Reggae School will bring together young talented musicians to create a new reggae band under Don's mentorship.

Fresh from their recent booking in Switzerland special guest band Massango present their original compositions using flute, saxophone and piano combined with guitars and percussion to create a stylish combination of Latin jazz funked up with quasi blues and classical.

The show finale is the dramatic rendition of Bubbles' arrangement of 'Psn on Fire' celebrating RASPO's achievements at this year's London Notting Hill Carnival when the thirty-five piece orchestra took part in the National Panorama Steelband Championships.
