RASPO players aged from 7 to twenty took part in an exciting Abba Medley performance with fourteen UK regions shown live on BBC for their Millennium Children in Need Appeal.

RASPO performed for the regional viewers during the appeal with interviews by Sally Taylor from BBC South. The event culminated in a national first; a medley of Abba hits played live by different artists from each UK region in a nationwide link up.

The BBC South event took place at Reading's Concert Hall and showcased RASPO playing Abba's 'Dancing Queen' to a national television audience of 18 million.

In 2000 Reading's newly refurbished Concert Hall was chosen as the venue to represent the South for the BBC's nationally broadcast Millennium Children in Need Appeal.

Presented by Sally Taylor and Roger Johnson the event featured Reading All Steel Percussion Orchestra alongside star guests including singer Leo Sayer, psychic Uri Geller and musician Rick Wakeman.
